Eugene

Before S was born, I was a preschool teacher. Last Friday, I found out that one of the girls I used to work with, Sarena, lost her son Eugene very suddenly and unexpectedly.

Last weekend, they went on vacation to celebrate Sarena's birthday. While they were there, Eugene passed away suddenly from an undiagosed heart defect. He was four years old.

I am so sad for Sarena and her family, and they haven't left my thoughts since I found out. As a Mum to two young children, Eugene's passing struck a particular chord, as I'm sure it would for any parent. I also knew Eugene until he was a year old, because he was a student at the center where I worked. He was a gorgeous little boy and he will be greatly missed.

Sarena is a hard-working single mom to both Eugene and a nine-year-old daughter. She would like to bury her little boy next to his father, who also passed away three years ago.
