Seating Options for the Big Boy Room

Happy New Year! My first resolution for 2012 is to get S's big boy room finished, and on that note, I have been contemplating seating options.

I was originally going to DIY a beanbag for the reading area, something along these lines...

But now I'm having second thoughts. An apartment-sized chair would be more grown-up friendly:

There's always floor cushions:

Or kid-sized furniture:

Right now I'm leaning towards the yellow chevron chair, but it would require a bit of saving up because, at $279, it's over-budget. Decisions, decisions.

  1. All the options are cute. The Poang chair is so comfortable for reading though. I have one and love it. Maybe you can dress it up with a fun cover for the cushions? Maybe I should do that to mine...

  2. You should check with IKEA. You could probably find a cheap chair and then make your own slip cover out of that pretty fabric. Just a thought. I hit IKEA on Friday and was surprised at their low prices ...

  3. Anna & Linda - thanks - I think I might make a trip to Ikea to test some of their chairs out...

  4. Super cute ideas! I love the Ziggy chair too, but my next favorite option would be the budget friendly bean bags! They're so comfy for kids and I love the fabric you chose! Could you get a more budget friendly chair at Target and cover that? They have some pretty options.

  5. Hi Lizzie,

My name is Sarah and I'm a fellow Chicago blogger! Yay for Chi-Town! I got your name, and connection to your blog, through Linda from "It All Started With Paint." She randomly posted on my site last week and I realized she was from Chicago. Through email exchanges I threw out the idea of getting together Chicago together for a little meet-and-greet and eventually some craft nights!
